Mahatma Gandhi on Yajna

Authors

Yajna is duty to be performed,or service to be rendered, all twenty-four hours of the day.

Every single act of one who would lead a life of purity should be in the nature of yajna.

Yajna having come to us with our birth, we are debtors all our lives, and thus for ever bound to serve the universe.

Gandhiji gave a very nice interpretation of yajna that is in line with the vedic statements.

Sun is doing yajna all the time. The interpretation that yajna is the essential duty that is to be performed all twenty-four hours of the days is appropriate.

We are debtors all our lives. We have to serve the universe. Hindus believe in debt to their parents, gurus and God. They have to do service to repay that debt.
