In the  campus of Allahabad University, due to  the call for Allahabad bandh given by Akhil Bhartiya Pratiyogi Chatra Morcha and Bhrashtachar Mukti Morcha, led to violence  arrest of more than a 100 students. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yogesh Shukla, who had come to express solidarity with students in their indefinite fast for the last 14 days, was arrested too. Students were protesting against alleged discrepancies in the recently announced Lower Subordinate Services examination results, accusing Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) of irregularities in the selection process and a bias shown in favour of  students allegedly from a particular region/caste in large numbers.
