Vinod Tawade - Biography


Vinod Tawade is presently the leader of the BJP party in Legislative Council of Maharashtra and he was elected as an MLA in assembly election conducted on 15 October from Borivali Constituency of Mumbai.


Tawade was born on 20 July 1963. His family was in a small house Lalbaug initially. It moved to Santacruz. Tawade went to Saint Anthony School. He did engineering graduation from College of Engineering, Pune. After his graduation he became a full time Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) a student organizationi supported by RSS.

In 1991, there was an ABVP morcha took place with one lakh students participating in it organized by Vinod Tawade. Every body immediately noticed because such massive demonstrations could be organized only by Bal Thackeray of Shiv Sena. Immediately, Pramod Mahajan and Gopinath Munde asked Tawade to join BJP. But Tawade refused saying he is not suited for political party work. But Mahajan persisted and got Tawade into the party in 1995. He was made general secretary of Maharashtra BJP. In 1997, he was made Mumbai unit chief.

He was elected as legislative council member for three time and has rich experience in legislative work.
