Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar - Productivity Award for Industrial Workmen and Women



OBJECTIVE:

The objective of the Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar (V.R.P.) is to recognize the outstanding
contributions made by a worker or a group of workers in an organization covered under the
Factories Act, 1948, The Dock Workers (Safety, Health and Welfare) Act, 1986, The Building &
other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996 and
Installations under the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), through his/her/their contributions
to improve productivity, occupational safety & health, environment and working conditions as well
as quality & safety of product.



Eligibility:-   Factories   registered   under  Factories  Act.,  1948, Establishments registered under the Building & Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act.,1996 and Establishments under Dock Workers (Safety, Health and Welfare) Act, 1986 and Nuclear Establishments under Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB).

2014 Awards
For the Performance Year 2012, 142 applications were received for VRP, out of which 28 were awarded and these awards were shared by 126 winners. Awards which were given to employees from SAIL's five plants including Bhilai Steel Plant, Bokaro Steel Plant, Rourkela Steel Plant, Durgapur Steel Plant and Salem Steel Plant.  19 of the 28 awards were won by SAIL plants. 105 persons were involved in them out of the 126 winners.

It is noteworthy that the estimated annual savings resulting from implementation of works mentioned in SAIL's award winning projects are approximately over Rs 65 crores (Recurring) & Rs 7 crores (Non Recurring).


In the Prime Minister’s Shram Awards for 2012, SAIL had won 6 out of the 16 awards conferred on PSUs; notably SAIL employees constituted half of the total Shram awardees.
